The Weekly Top 3 (2.26.2024)
A tweet gives away why some are so strenuously opposed to constitutionalizing the PFD, Alaskan corporate welfare keeps growing & we try to better define the actual Cook Inlet gas issue
Welcome to The Weekly Top 3 — our look at the top 3 things on our mind here at Alaskans for Sustainable Budgets — for the week of February 26, 2024.
The Weekly Top 3 is a regular weekly segment on The Michael Dukes Show. The Show broadcasts on Facebook and YouTubeLive as well as via streaming audio from the Show’s website weekdays from 6–8am. I join Michael weekly in the first hour of Tuesday’s show, from 6:10–7am, for a discussion between the two of us about our three issues.
This week, our top 3 issues are these: 1) we discuss a recent tweet from former Governor Walker’s chief of staff that explains why some are so strenuously opposed to constitutionalizing the PFD, even though doing so would be better for the overall Alaska economy and would lower the cost of government to 80% of Alaska families (2:24); 2) we discuss the continued growth of Alaska corporate welfare, funded by even deeper PFD cuts, and how even Republicans are engaged in it (16:30); and 3) we propose a tighter definition of the Cook Inlet gas issue in an effort to help identify the best solution, not just the most expedient one (35:14).
The segment is at the YouTube clip above. For those who prefer the audio version, it is available on our Spotify and Soundcloud pages. Go to the Show’s Soundcloud page here for this and other complete podcasts of The Michael Dukes Show.
