We put the HFIN Op Budg in context and identify where we will be focused, our take on inflation factors & the problems around campaign finance keep growing
Welcome to The Weekly Top 3 — our look at the top 3 things on our mind here at Alaskans for Sustainable Budgets — for the week of March 7, 2022.
The Weekly Top 3 is a regular weekly segment on The Michael Dukes Show. The Show broadcasts on Facebook and YouTubeLive as well as via streaming audio from the Show’s website weekdays from 6–8am. I join Michael weekly in the first hour of Tuesday’s show, from 6:25–7am, for a discussion between the two of us about our three issues.
This week our Top 3 issues are these: 1) we put the version of the House Operating Budget currently being considered by the House Finance Committee into context by comparing it to prior budgets and discuss what we will be looking for as the budget continues to work its way through the legislature this session (2:13); 2) we discuss inflation factors and set the baseline for how we will be thinking about the issue as it starts to be raised in the context of legislative budget discussions (20:10); and 3) we discuss the additional problems for campaign finance created by APOC’s decision to abandon any contribution limits on state and local races (27:07).
The segment is at the YouTube clip above. For those that prefer the audio version, it is available both on our Spotify and Soundcloud pages. For this and other complete podcasts of The Michael Dukes Show, go to the Show’s Soundcloud page here.
