Welcome to The Weekly Top 3 — our look at the top 3 things on our mind here at Alaskans for Sustainable Budgets — for the week of April 3, 2023.
The Weekly Top 3 is a regular weekly segment on The Michael Dukes Show. The Show broadcasts on Facebook and YouTubeLive as well as via streaming audio from the Show’s website weekdays from 6–8am. I join Michael weekly in the first hour of Tuesday’s show, from 6:25–7am, for a discussion between the two of us about our three issues.
This week our top 3 issues are these: 1) the positive impact Rep. Ben Carpenter’s proposed sales tax is having on the conversation about an Alaska fiscal solution (2:16); 2) how a vote yesterday on the House floor on the proposed budget serves to hilite the hypocrisy of some representatives who claim to be looking out for working Alaska families (20:07); and 3) how we believe the legislature should respond to the surprise runup in oil prices happening as a result of OPEC’s decision over the weekend to reduce supply (29:00).
The segment is at the YouTube clip above. For those that prefer the audio version, it is available both on our Spotify and Soundcloud pages. For this and other complete podcasts of The Michael Dukes Show, go to the Show’s Soundcloud page here.
