The Weekly Top 3 (5.16.2022)
Rep. Ivy Spohnholz says out loud the typically silent part of the progressive position on PFD cuts and the ADN editorial board is at it yet again
Welcome to The Weekly Top 3 — our look at the top 3 things on our mind here at Alaskans for Sustainable Budgets — for the week of May 16, 2022.
The Weekly Top 3 is a regular weekly segment on The Michael Dukes Show. The Show broadcasts on Facebook and YouTubeLive as well as via streaming audio from the Show’s website weekdays from 6–8am. I join Michael weekly in the first hour of Tuesday’s show, from 6:25–7am, for a discussion between the two of us about our three issues.
Because of the time we spent on them, this week we only cover the first two of our Top 3 issues: 1) Michael and I discuss a series of tweets from Rep. Ivy Spohnholz that says out loud what’s been historically the silent part of the progressive position on PFD cuts (2:15); and 2) we take on yet another ADN editorial board op-ed pushing the Top20% position that PFD cuts — in other words, middle & lower income Alaska families — should bear the full weight of government spending (19:59).
We will pick up the third topic — the current status of Santos’ Pikka project and whether there’s a silent “but” sitting behind their recent positive statements — next week.
The segment is at the YouTube clip above. For those that prefer the audio version, it is available both on our Spotify and Soundcloud pages. For this and other complete podcasts of The Michael Dukes Show, go to the Show’s Soundcloud page here.
