The Weekly Top 3 (9.25.2023)
What's next for #AKfiscal after "no special session," the Dunleavy admin drops the ball on this yr's PFD announcement & why the APFC's coming push for PF changes is disingenuous
Welcome to The Weekly Top 3 — our look at the top 3 things on our mind here at Alaskans for Sustainable Budgets — for the week of September 25, 2023.
The Weekly Top 3 is a regular weekly segment on The Michael Dukes Show. The Show broadcasts on Facebook and YouTubeLive as well as via streaming audio from the Show’s website weekdays from 6–8am. I join Michael weekly in the first hour of Tuesday’s show, from 6:10–7am, for a discussion between the two of us about our three issues.
This week our top 3 issues are these: 1) we discuss a recent article confirming that there will be no special session this fall on a fiscal plan, the ADN editorial board’s reaction to that and ours as well (2:06); 2) we discuss our problem with the Dunleavy administration’s announcement of, and the subsequent reporting on this year’s PFD (18:56); and 3) we explain how the Permanent Fund Corporation is beginning its push for changes in the Permanent Fund structure, and why we think both the approach is disingenuous and the goal wrong (36:47).
The segment is at the YouTube clip above. For those who prefer the audio version, it is available on our Spotify and Soundcloud pages. Go to the Show’s Soundcloud page here for this and other complete podcasts of The Michael Dukes Show.
